Dear EVERYONE
Wow!! Yesterday was hectic!!
Thank you so much for those of you who helped on the day – and those who donated to the Coffee Morning beforehand.
Footfall in Morpeth yesterday wasn’t great – and we were concerned that our efforts would suffer as a result. However…..
The Bag Pack
Sometimes we had more helpers than there were tills open in Morrisons (we suspect the roadworks have affected their business too)… but we made the grand total of £1042.73
The Coffee Morning
Again, numbers attending were down but those who came spent well and we took £1007! This is the best ever for a Scout Coffee Morning – helped enormously by over £300 on the raffle. Thank you so much for all your very generous donations – the Coffee Morning wouldn’t have been possible without you.
And finally – but perhaps most importantly – we spoke to many members of the community yesterday at both events whom I hope now have more details about our fundraising appeal and us as 4th Morpeth Scout Group.
THANK YOU for all your support yesterday and in the lead up.
When the 2 events came up on the same day I didn’t believe we could do both of them well – but we did!
Best wishes
Liz
It’s now only just over a week until our ‘Fundraising Extravaganza’ on Saturday 17th March – and this is a heartfelt plea for help – and a BIG Thank You for the fantastic Coffee Morning donations that have been brought in so far!!
Two big events on one day is not ideal – but, with your help, we can make it work. The shell of the extension is now up and a team of volunteers are putting in many hours to complete the internal finishing and decoration. We now need a final push to raise the last funds necessary to complete the extension and make it functional.
PLEASE sign up to help on 17th March. And if you can, please consider a double shift at both events. I know it’s a big ask – but we really are on the last lap of completing the building project.
Following a suggestion from a Cub Mum who doesn’t get into the Scout Hut to sign up to help I have created a ‘Doodle’ event! If I’ve done it correctly you should be able to click on the following links and sign up to help at one (or both!!) events!
Here are the links:

Of course, you’re also very welcome to sign up the old fashioned way on the sheets in the Hut – if you haven’t done so already!!
Please continue to bring in tombola items, toys and games and items for raffle hampers etc. There have been some lovely donations so far and we should be able to put on some great stalls.
Also, Morpeth businesses have been VERY generous in supporting us by providing raffle prizes. I have attached a list (as it stands today). Please consider taking extra tickets to sell – we have 250 books to sell in total. The Raffle could be a very big fundraiser if we manage to sell all the tickets. Please return stubs and money to your leader – and don’t be shy about asking for more tickets – your work colleagues will love to buy them!!
Thank you again for all your support. There’ll be another reminder e-mail next week and then I’ll look forward to seeing you on the 17th!!
Best wishes

We have over 20 Cubs and Scouts attending the “Marralympics” camp in June.
I have been informed by Northumberland County Scouts of change to the “Marralympics” camp. Due to feedback from other participating Groups, the organisers have decided to reduce the camp length by one day. Marralympics will now run from Friday 1st June until Monday 4th June.
As the dates and cost has changed we feel it’s only fair to offer those who have paid a chance to change their mind and everyone a chance to attend. The camp is now £70 and only 3 nights. The deposit stays the same at £20 per participant.
Please reply directly to me at gsl@4thmorpeth.org.uk by Sunday 4th March if your child would now like to attend or you wish to withdraw attendance.
| 1st June, 2012 | to | 4th June, 2012 |
This year the Group has decided that we will take part in the large County Olympic Marra Camp at Beanley, Northumberland. This camp will be run from the evening of Friday 1st June until the afternoon of Tuesday 5th June Monday 4th June.
The cost of this camp will be £80 £70. This will include food and activities. We are asking for a deposit of £20.
Please indicate your interest by filling in this form by Friday 24th February Sunday 4th March.

Thursday Cubs will be visiting Pets at Home on Thursday 8th March. Please meet at Pets at Home in Cramlington

Thursday Cubs will be visiting Safety Works – if you have not been before – this is a multi agency interactive safety centre – which is jointly funded by Northumbria Police and as a result I have secured us a free session (normally costs £50 for 2 hours) – check out safety works! website.
Akela has arranged for a coach to pick us up from the CAR PARK OPPOSITE MORRISONS PETROL STATION at 4.30PM ON THURSDAY 2ND FEBRUARY.
We will return at this same car park at 7.30pm.
Please wear full uniform and wear a coat.
Sadly the cost of the coach will be £5.50 each – sorry about asking for more money!
If you are NOT coming to this trip please let me know.
Also it will be a good idea to bring sandwiches and a drink along to eat during the evening.
